About the College

                                     Ramachandrapuram is a small , semi –rural town situated in Ramachandrapuram Assembly Constituency comes under Amalapuram Parliamentary Constituency of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema  District, the rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh. More than 80% of the population are farmers , both big , small and marginal and agricultural workers. The place is surrounded by lush green rice fields and luxuriant vegetation. It is also a bustling commercial center for clusters of surrounding villages. Realizing the need for better educational facilities and opportunities for its rural youth, the legendary person of its town Sri Kruthiventi Perraju Panthulu (S.K.P.P) founded Educational Trust (S.K.P.P.E.T) on 21-09-1906. The S.K.P.P.E.Trust has been blooming with a number of EducationalInstitutions like S.K.P.Government National High School, S.K.P. Government National Junior College, S.K.P.Multipurpose Agricultural Polytechnic College, in the recent past Government Polytechnic College and Government Degree College are added in the mind of SKPE Trust. As a result of relentless efforts of the elders and rulers of this area to fulfill the educational needs of the people in and around Ramachandrapuram. 

The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued G.O. starting the Degree college in 2013 (G.O. Rt. No: 839 Higher Education (CE_1) Department, dated 25-10-2013) . The Government Degree College, Ramachandrapuram started functioning in the academic year i.e, 2014 with B.Sc. (M.P.C) , B.Sc(C.B.Z), B.Com (General) and B.A. (H.E.P) Courses with an initial student strength of 128. It is affiliated to Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry. 

                                At present , the college is offering 8 academic programs with co-education in English medium. For the academic year 2023-24 onwards 8 Honors  programs are offered  in English medium with student strength of 580. This college is catering the needs of underprivileged sections of the society. During 2015-16, a land of 5.25 acres was allocated to this college from Sri Kruttiventi Perraju Panthulu Educational Trust for the construction of permanent buildings. Seven rooms with a construction cost of one crore were built in the campus . At present the college is functioning in the premises of S.K.P.G.N. Junior College, Ramachadrapuram, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema District under shift system from 12.45p.m. to 5.30.p.m.
